Lewis to defend her title in Texas

Stacy Lewis will be back in her home state of Texas where she’ll be defending her first title of the season at the Volunteers of America North Texas Shootout Presented by JTBC. Lewis won in 2014 with a 16-under par.  During last year’s final round the Rolex Rankings No. 3 player shot the low round the day with a 7-under to claim her ninth career LPGA Tour victory, being Meena Lee her nearest contender with a 10-under score.

The third edition of this tournament will be held April 30 thru May 1 at Las Colinas Country Club in Irving, Texas.

The field for this week includes the top three ranked players in women’s golf: Lydia Ko, Inbee Park and Stacy Lewis plus the Texan players Angela Stanford, Brittany Lang and Gerina PillerAmber Wang and Dominique Galloway are the two amateurs that will be playing with a sponsor invite.

Suzann Pettersen has been struggling with a shoulder injury since the 2015 LOTTE Championship and was withdrawn from the tourney, which gives Stephanie Meadow a chance to play this week.
