2015 Marathon Classic Preview

After the third major of the season the LPGA is ready for the next stop. The tour will now head to Sylvania, Ohio where the Marathon Classic Presented by Owens Corning & O-I will be played. The event will be held at the Highland Meadows Golf Club July 16th thru 19th.

Lydia Ko will try to defend her title this week after winning in last year’s edition with a final-round of 6-under and a total of 15-under par. During the 2014 edition So Yeon Ryu missed a six-foot birdie putt on the 18th hole to force a playoff and finished runner-up with 14-under par. After her win Ko became the youngest player in LPGA Tour history (17 years, 2 months, 26 days) to cross the $1 million mark.

Some of the past champions of the event like Beatriz Recari, So Yeon Ryu, Na Yeon Choi and Paula Creamer will be in the field for this week. Fans will be able to follow Morgan Pressel, Cristie Kerr, Natalie Gulbis and Brittany Lincicome, who are also listed in the final field of the event.

After the Monday Qualifier Ally McDonald (68) and Marissa Dodd (68) were added to the field.
