Preview: 2015 Blue Bay LPGA

The LPGA Tour enters its fourth week in Asia and will now have the Hainan Island as scenery for the Blue Bay LPGA. Despite only being on its second edition the event has become one of the favorite stops for players, who even call it paradise.

In last year’s edition the South African Lee-Anne Pace managed to hoist the trophy after four days of heavy rain and delays. Only three rounds were completed after the delays and a Monday finish but Pace turned in notable scorecards (67 – 66 – 67) to win at 16-under. Caroline Masson finished runner-up just three shots behind at 13-under.

The field for this week includes the new World No. 1, Lydia Ko. After losing the highest ranked spot Inbee Park will back in action in China. The field will includes 20 of the top 30 players on the LPGA Official Money List.

The event will be held at the Jian Lake Blue Bay Golf Course, which opened in 2012 and is known to be one of the top ten best new courses in China. The course is designed in a links style layout and is situated along the beach of the Hainan bay facing the South China Sea.
